The Wind
Ensemble
Auditions
for the UNC Wind Ensemble are held during the first week of classes
each semester. The audition consists of prepared excerpts (3-4 minutes) of your choice that demostrate both lyrical and technical playing and a short required excerpt, which will be provided to all who plan to audition. Percussionissts should prepare short excerpts for marimba/vibes, timpani and snare drum. Detailed information and sign-up sheets will be posted online at www.unbands.org prior to the audition dates.
The Symphony
Band
Auditions
for the UNC Symphony Band are held during the first week of classes
each semester. The audition consists of a short required excerpt, which will be provided to all who plan to audition. Students auditioning may also perform prepared excerpts (3-4 minutes) of their choice that demostrate both lyrical and technical playing Percussionists should prepare a short excerpt on one or two instruments of their choosing. Detailed information and sign-up sheets will be posted online at www.uncbands.org prior to the audtion dates.
The University
Band
There
are no auditions required for participation in the University Band.
When needed, auditions are held for part assignment only. These
auditions will be held during the third rehearsal each spring. The
audition will consist of excerpts from the music being rehearsed
and sight-reading.
